| Use this topic to:
1. Read up how to make and lead a clan. 2. Read up on the statistics and rankings of each clan (updated weekly). 3. Request your clan to be created, to change your clan's leaders/mods, to request a private subforum, to request a bank account, to state your allies and reps, to request your clan to be publically viewable, and for any other possible clan related request. 4. To ask any questions.
1. Clan Leaders Guidebook - The Basics
How do I create a clan?
Step 1 - Think of an Idea - If you begin a clan, you shouldn't just post a sign-up thread and expect people to sign up to join you. First, you have to make your clan appealing. For example, the members of the Wolf Pack like wolves, and they enjoy role-playing as wolves. Similarly, the members of the VGZ are interested in Video Games. Then decide if your clan is going to be roleplaying based (ie: a Guild) or non-roleplaying based (ie: An Organisation).
Step 2 - Post a Sign-Up Thread - Once you have your concept in mind, you should type it out in a fancy, appealing way (sometimes good GFX help) and post a thread in which members of CC can sign up. This way, you're publically active and letting members know that you are willing to work for your clan. Also, you may want to recruit from elsewhere- say another site or another section of NG- because there's a good chance that the members of CC are already involved in Clans.
Step 3 - Post the Needed Info Here - Once you have Twelve (12) members, you are free to apply to the moderators for your clan. You need to post this form in this topic -
Clan Name: Guild or Organisation: If organisation, forum sponsoring: Leaders LeaderName1 LeaderName2 etc. Members (excluding leaders) Member1 Member2 Member3 Prefered Clan to be Guardianed By: (All new clans have the option of being supported by a top clan)
Once your clan has been approved, it shall be setup, and you will receive word of your status.
Step 4 - Get to work setting up your Subforum. - Make your clan interesting and fun for the members, because otherwise there's a good chance that you'll get nixed at the first activity check that your clan is eligible to be deleted in. Make sure to not have too many topics on top - there is nothing worse than having more than half a dozen topics announced/stickied making it all look very messy.
Minimum Clan Requirements
If you don't meet these minimum standards, your clan will be given one month to improve, before it'll be removed. Please note that we offer help to new and struggling clans (Simply ask in this topic or PM the mods).
- Must have a signup topic. - Must have at least 12 active members in their group. - Their private subforum must be active. - Their members should be posting in RoleplayingNation if you are a guild, or in your sponsored forum if you are an organisation (see sponsorship). If your clan has not yet managed to decide on a section to sponsor, you should aim to at least contribute to the ClanNation Community forum.
Optional Clan Responsibilites
Your clan has the choice of doing these, but it is all optional. The more you do, and the better you do them, the higher you are likely to be ranked. See advanced information for a more detailed explanation of all this.
- Running schemes, events, or roleplays for your sponsored area. - Running schemes or events within your private forum for your own members. - Helping out on the CC events committee. - Assisting new clans and offering them training and support (see Clan Guardianship). - Training, initiation, or "get to know you" schemes to assist your new or inexperienced members.
Forum Sponsorship & Schemes
Forum sponsorship means that your clan is supporting an area of The World Community. At the lowest level this can be simply encouraging your members to post in that section. Sponsorship is done so as to prevent any one clan becoming seperated and detached from the rest of the forums.
At a higher level, you can run a scheme or event that in some way supports the forum you're sponsoring. If you need help setting up something, ask a CC mod.Or Admin.

You do not need to know all this to get a clan made and run it, but it definately helps!
Clan Ranks & Types
Depending on how strong your clan's infrastructure and membership is, the moderators will assess and rank your clan on a monthly basis. Your rank will determine your clan's priviledges.
C Rank Clan
What is It: This is either a clan that is less than a month old, or a clan that is seriously struggling with it's schemes or activity (ie: less than 12 active members). Or it is sponsoring a forum, but only in name (ie: members aren't even posting in it). Priviledges: They are entitled to a usergroup and private forum only. C Ranks can not earn credits, and do not have a clan bank account.
B Rank Clan
What is It: A clan that has no issues with it's activity, is successfully sponsoring at least one area of The World Community, and has an active private forum. Usually a B Rank clan will hold events or training schemes inside it's own forum to encourage activity and interest, though this is recommended and not a requirement. Priviledges: All C Rank priviledges, plus B rank clans are given a bank account to earn credits with (See Credit Awards). B Rank clans are also allowed to join the Clan Cities Events Committee, and to signup to help out C rank clans.
A Rank Clan
What is It: A clan with a high level of activity, an effective structure, and regularly runs schemes and events. A Rank Clans should have at least one leader on a ClanNation committee. They should also either sponsor two sections, or one section and agree to help out a C rank clan. Priviledges: All C and B rank priviledges, plus A rank clans are allowed to have subforums within their clan area, are allowed to have as many clan leaders as they deem are required (managed via a private usergroup if necessary), and when it's their turn, get to chair the Clan Cities Events Committee. Being an A Rank clan is also a highly prestigeous honor to have, and we hope that as many clans will become inspired to hit the top level as possible.
Note - if your clan drops a rank from one assessment to the next, you will be given one month to get it back up before you lose your priviledges.
Wandering Clans
What is It: A clan without it's own private area. Wandering clans are a special case and not ranked. However, they are still considered clans and being a member of one counts toward your two clan limit. They must also still have at least 12 actives, and be posting in their sponsored section. Priviledges: Essentially zero asides from having it's own usergroup. However, a Wandering Clan is still allowed to ally itself with a clan and so have access to their subforum if both sides agree to this (See Clan Alliances).
Clan Alliances
We welcome and encourage clan alliances. Formally allying with a clan (post if you are in this topic) gives both clans a number of options.
- Clan allies are each allowed to nominate up to three official representatives who are allowed access to the other's forum. They do not have to officially be a member of each other's group for this. - Wandering clans are allowed to pick one clan which they can ally with, and if both sides agree, can have access for all their members to their private forum.
Clan Guardianship
All A Rank clans must take a struggling or new clan (ie: C Rank) under it's wing and help it out. B Rank Clans are given this as an option.
There are benefits to sponsoring a clan in that members of both clans are, if they so choose, given full access to one another's forums. So, all the members of the A rank clan can help out and contribute to the C rank clan (ie: help set up topics, encourage discussion, volunteer to help them out, etc).
Once the struggling clan hits B-Rank status, the partnership is broken up, and the A Rank clan is asked to take a new struggling clan under it's wing.
Sponsoring a clan also gives that clan a credit reward (See Clan Credits).
If you are a C rank clan requiring a guardian, please PM The Admin or (ex:Vasuka) so you may be paired with a guardian.
Clan Promotion
We strongly encourage all clans to have a scheme inside it's private forum that makes it easier for new members to become a full part of the clan (ie: a membership Guardian/Adoptee scheme for example). To this end, any clan that does this will be allowed to place a signup topic for itself up in Welcomes & Goodbyes on a rotating basis, whereby each clan taking part gets it's topic up for one week at a time.
A Class Clans are not allowed to take part, since they are expected to have this type of scheme ongoing anyway, and don't as urgently require extra members.
To signup to be promoted, simply post in this topic.
Publically Viewable clans.
Clans may also opt to allow their forum to be publically viewable to all. This is up to the clan. While you will lose your privacy, at the same time it makes it easier for prospective new members to see what your clan is about, and thereby increases the likelyhood of people signing up.
Clan Credits & Bank Accounts.
All B and A rank clans are entitled to a clan bank account. Simply register a new username along the lines of "ClanName's Account" and post in here with it.
Each month your clan is assessed and given a score out of 10. The score determines your credit(Karma/Ryo) award for that month.
10 = 15,000 Credits 9 = 10,000 Credits 8 = 5,000 Credits 7 = 4,000 Credits 6 = 3,000 Credits 5 = 2,000 Credits 4 = 1,000 Credits 0-3 = 0 Credits
Most clans will use their credits to reward/pay their members with, or to use to pay other clans in exchange for services from them.
To avoid any abuses, any clan member may not receive more than 2,000 credits a month from their clan as a reward/payment. Any clan breaking this rule will lose their bank account. . Clan Leader Rank Bars.
Clan Leaders are handed a rank bar to indicate their status. You can opt to allow your clan leaders to have one by submitting an image of up to 30 by 30 pixels in dimension.
Simply post in this topic with the image you want us to use. If you require help GFXing, then post an image you want to use in here, and we'll try and tweak it up for you.
